Skye Valley wins UDIA (Vic) award!

Peet’s Skye Valley community has won a prestigious 2011 Urban Development Institute of Australia (Vic) award in the category ‘Residential Development of 250 Lots or fewer.’

It’s taken less than two years for all 84 homesites at the boutique community in Melbourne’s South-East to sell out, and Skye Valley’s rural feel, large parklands and convenient location were all contributing factors that led to the impressive award win (an Oscar in land development terms)!

Recycling reaps rewards

Future Skye Valley resident Scott Balliet regularly ensures every power point is switched off when it is not in use, every appliance shut down when it is not needed, all leftovers go into the compost and everything that can be re-used goes into the recycling bin.

And as a primary school teacher his recycling mantra is conveyed to his pupils, who have won awards for making films concerning sustainability.
It was these recycling efforts which won Mr Balliet a weekend away at a luxury eco-resort thanks to Peet Limited’s 2010 National Recycling Week Competition.

He is one of five national winners in the competition, which asked Peet estate residents and purchasers to write about the ways in which they recycle, re-use and reduce.

Peet Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Brendan Gore said there were some inspirational entries to the community competition.
 “It is fantastic to know that so many of our residents are committed to sustainable living,” Mr Gore said.

 “Some of the novel and unique ways in which people in our communities have been working to reduce, re-use and recycle are inspiring.”

Mr Balliet said he and his wife were very conscious of ensuring that all appliances and power points were switched off when they weren’t being used. And that all unused food scraps is put into the compost and re-used to enrich the soil in their garden.

“I feel I have an even greater impact at my school and think it is so important to teach students to be responsible global citizens and to learn good environmental habits like reducing, re-using and recycling,” Mr Balliet said.

Reduce, recycle and WIN!

Thousands of residents and purchasers in Peet communities are being encouraged to support National Recycling Week 2010 which kicks off on Monday 8 November 2010.

You can make your mark by organising a Friday File Fling at home or at the office,  joining in an Aussie Swap Party or by learning more about how to recycle right all year round. Look online at www.recyclingweek.planetark.org to find an event near you and for a raft of other information about environmentally-friendly recycling habits.

Meanwhile, the Peet team across Australia is joining in by participating in the national Friday File Fling on 12 November – recycling paper and other office materials that might otherwise be destined for the bin.

To encourage our residents across Australia to join the recycling rage this November too, residents and purchasers in Peet communities across Western Australia, Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland are being offered the chance to win a luxury weekend away for two at an eco-resort!*

If you’re a resident or purchaser, simply make a recycling pledge or tell us what you already do to recycle at home or in your community, for your chance to win!   Your entry can be as simple or elaborate as you please!

Skye high demand for new Peet estate

Homebuyers have snapped up more than 30 per cent of available homesites since the first land release at Peet Limited’s Skye Valley’s late last year (September 2009).

First-time buyers still benefit from new home grants in Victoria

Despite the First Home Owners’ Boost expiring on 31 December 2009, first-time buyers in Victoria can still claim up to $18,000 to build their dream new home at a Peet community.

Eligible first homebuyers can take advantage of the First Home Owners Grant which can provide $7,000 towards the cost of their new home.

As well as this, new purchasers may also be eligible for an additional $11,000 First Home Bonus, giving them a total of up to $18,000 towards their new home at a Peet estate.

Buyers take advantage of home affordability high

Homebuyers at Peet estates around Victoria are enjoying a choice of quality homesites and competitive prices, plus the most affordable housing since 2003.

Latest Real Estate Institute of Australia (REIA) statistics show Australia has the highest level of housing affordability in close to six years, with the proportion of family income required to meet loan repayments dropping to 28.6%.
